Buzz-er canned, is social networking really beneficial?

More than 3 months ago I decided to call it quits on google
buzz. I just didn’t see the relevance of it all. Any who, I only
realised today that I still had a feed and icon running on my site
(kind of gives you an idea of how many visitors I actually get, coz
no one complained about a funny error on my site!), which brings me
to this question, is it really necessary, the social networking chit-chat?. Unless of course you’re a marketing guru or some PR
maniac like one I know, or perhaps an organisation with a well
outliimed PR and Marketing campaign, why do would one need all
these tools and plenty plus networks?

When I get an answer, I’ll let you know, for now it’s good bye buzz…

Joomla Auto-Blogging with K2 & Feed Gator

Having been working on auto-blogging with WordPress for a few months now and I wondered aloud as to whether there was anything that could match some of the auto-blogging plugins available in Joomla.

I was quite chuffed to discover a tool called Feed Gator. Apparently its been around since Joomla 1.0 days; I didn’t know that, and neither did I know of auto-blogging then, so its cool.

As a matter of preference I ignore Joomla’s default content manager and rush to quickly install K2 just because its better and easier for most layman to understand. And so its a big plus that Feed Gator can feed into it; and you can separate each feed into categories, yey!

For the benefit of others, auto-blogging is the stealing art of content from other bloggers via RSS feeds. You take a bunch of feeds and create your own blog articles with them.

First of many

I can not say I am going to be writing as often as the guys who make money blogging. However I will be writing enough to document procedures, tricks and links to sites that would’ve helped me in achieving certain goals and objectives.

As a developer I found that code snippets are extremely useful; needless to say that I end up having billions of little snippets around; and in the midst of it forget where I put them.

So indeed this is more for my benefit than it is for anyone else.
